Brain (Emotional Intelligence – EQ)

We all know that our brain are divided into two parts. The first is conscious mind, and the other is subconscious mind. But , im gonna share with you some other things about our brain. OK. Adapted from “Its Not How Smart You Are, But Its How You Are Smart”book, it says our brain are divided into 3 parts.The reptilian brain, lymbic system, and neocortex(human brain). Lets make it more clear. Imagine, these 3 parts are ONE football team. The reptilian brain acts as the defender, lymbic system as midfielder and neocortex is the striker. What do defenders do when they get the ball? They clear the ball away from goal. They don’t have to think too much. Same as our reptilian brain. It works during “Fight or flight” situation because this part of brain do not think. (involuntary) So, people with low EQ always use this part in many situation without thinking the causes. Now, move on to lymbic system, this part of brain controls emotion. This part decide which one to choose, whether to fight or flight in a given situation. Same as midfielder, they’re the one who decide whether to pass the ball to striker or defender. The last part of the brain to develop is the neocortex “human brain”. This part of brain is the creative one, it thinks logically and give reason before taking actions. ( Striker always have to think creatively in order to score goals in many ways) People with high EQ always use this part of brain. Some of them integrate the part of the brain and use ‘human brain’ in most circumstances. High EQ people can soothe themself, assimilate a high level of stress and have the ability to be around anxious people without absorbing the anxiety. (How great if it is me!) Besides,they also have qualities of compassion, self-discipline,optimism, flexibility,and the ability to solve problems and cope with stress.
